I started pottery out of an obsession with coffee. Teaching myself to make an excellent latte or a flat white, and getting the latte art just right led me to wanting to make my own cups and mugs to enjoy and share with friends and family. With this a new fascination with clay was born.

This week has been pretty productive for my pottery work, with lots of new tests and experiments

- Mixed my first ever glaze and used it with a few test cups
- Threw my first test tiles for future glazing tests
- Made my second, much more successful

Easily my favourite piece of pottery I’ve made so far. Inspired by a YouTube video from @mae.ceramics last year, I knew I wanted to try and make a butter bell / butter crock / butter keeper once I was feeling a little more confident with my pot

First finished work out of the kiln @bellajonesceramics and while I don’t usually go for especially colourful glazes I’m loving how this mug turned out! Obviously had to give it a initial test as soon as I got it home

My latest finished work picked up from the kiln today, all glazed in the studio’s mustard glaze. I’m so pleased with some of these pieces, I’m actually a little sad some of them are destined for very late Christmas presents.
